Our Young Carer team offers a range of support, including 1-to-1 mentoring, youth clubs for different ages, trips and activities during schools holidays

Carers’ Resource has been supporting young carers in Harrogate and Craven for over 25 years. In 2019 we expanded into the Bradford district and in 2022 into Selby.

Our team is made up of people from all kinds of different backgrounds, including some who were young carers themselves. We believe that young carers are amazing and it’s our job to help them increase their confidence and well-being. We provide time and space for them to enjoy being with other young carers as well as opportunities to try all kinds of different activities and then tell us what they want us to do next!

Helen Prince

Head of Young Carers and Families

Helen Prince is the Head of Young Carers and Families, with responsibility for delivering and expanding our services to support young carers and parents of children with disabilities.

Having previously worked in the Public Health department of Newcastle University, she joined Carers’ Resource in 2005 as a young carer mentor and has had various roles within the team since then, balancing work life with caring for her autistic son.

Helen is passionate about providing high-quality support to families through a thriving voluntary sector. As an active member of Local Safeguarding Partnerships and multi-agency strategic networking groups, she helps to keep families affected by disability, illness and substance misuse considered as a local priority. She is particularly interested in emotional health and finding ways to increase carers’ resilience.
