A Young Carer Champion is a voluntary role designed to help identify, support, and advocate for young carers within a school or organisation. This role plays a key part in raising awareness with colleagues, ensuring young carers are seen and supported, and helping to create a more inclusive environment.

As a Young Carer Champion you would:

  • Promote awareness of young carers and the challenges they may face
  • Help identify young carers within the organisation in a sensitive and appropriate way
  • Share information about available support, both internally and externally
  • Encourage a supportive and understanding culture among staff and peers
  • Work with leadership teams to ensure young carers are considered in policies and practices
  • Display and distribute relevant resources (posters, leaflets, etc.) to raise awareness

  • Providing free training to build your knowledge
  • Giving you access to resources, guidance, and regular updates
