Harrogate-based charity Carers’ Resource has recently launched a new group for carers in the Harrogate District who are supporting someone over 16 with a mental health issue.
The group, which began in October, meets on the second Friday of every month, 10am – 12noon, at the charity’s Harrogate office (Unit 3, Grove Park Court, Grove Park Terrace, Harrogate, HG1 4DP). The next get-together is on 12th January.
Carers can have a cup of tea and meet and chat with others in the area who are in a similar situation to themselves.
Stephanie Flint, Locality Worker at Carers’ Resource, who help set up the group, said: “This is a really friendly, welcoming group for anyone who is looking after a relative or friend over 16 with a mental health issue. The first few sessions have gone really well as people have been getting to know one another. With the run up to Self-Care Week we focused on de-stressing and how carers can look after themselves. Carers shared ideas on what they do to manage stress and made themselves a self-care box to take home with them.”
To register for the group or find out more please contact Stephanie – email sflint@carersresource.org or call 07512 321244.
Carers’ Resource provides emotional and practical support to people who are looking after a friend, neighbour or relative who could not manage otherwise because of frailty, illness, addiction or disability.
The charity offers a wide range of services for unpaid carers across the Harrogate, Bradford, Selby and Craven Districts, including one-to-one support, information, support groups, employment and training advice, planning for emergencies, and wellbeing.
