Role description:

Our new carers sitting service based on a successful model in Harrogate will be delivered by volunteers in the Craven and Selby Districts. The Co-ordinator manages the service – ensuring that all carers are supported in having their regular time off. The successful candidate will be experienced at managing volunteers, assessing care needs, delivering a service that service users trust and depend on.

Role Guide:

To be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Carers Sitting Service.  A sitting service delivered wholly by volunteers.

Care @ the Carers’ Resource provides support to carers and people with care needs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Young Carer Sessional Worker – Skipton

Role description:

Supports the young carer youth club, which take place on Wednesday evening.  This will include preparation for the club and for the theme of the evening.

Enable young carers to access leisure opportunities in the school holidays.

Attending trips such as Old Trafford, swimming, Laser Zone, Bowling, Alton Towers, Chester Zoo, cooking, Hesketh Farm Park.

Supporting other workers with pre-trip preparations such as risk assessment, phoning round families, putting together paperwork, first aid kits etc prior to setting off.

Providing transport to and from meeting points for families with transport issues. 

Enables young carers to take part in local, regional and national events and activities.

Pro-actively seeks and supports young carers for consultation, involvement and training processes both within The Carers’ Resource and with other agencies.

Young Carer Worker – Skipton

Role description:

Provides one-to-one information, advice and support to young carers, in order to move them on emotionally, socially and educationally. Provides mentoring sessions when appropriate

Works with other agencies both statutory and voluntary to safeguard young carers.

Signposts and makes appropriate referrals to other agencies if additional support is identified. 

Maintain accurate case notes and keep confidential records and monitor young carers’ needs including any unmet needs.

Leads the annual activities programme – both regular club, activities and residentials to ensure that young carers have a choice of activities and participate in these after school.

Using knowledge and experience gained from carers themselves, to advise the Young Carer Lead on ways to improve services for young carers throughout Harrogate and Craven.

Pro-actively seeks and supports young carers for consultation, involvement and training processes both within Carers’ Resource and with other agencies.

Information Officer Skipton/Bradford

Role description:

You will have experience of information, advice and advocacy as well as knowledge of welfare benefits and the statutory sector.  You will be expected to support the local team in their casework and work directly with carers, mostly over the phone.

Information Officers will work closely with carers informing, guiding and supporting them, offering basic and in-depth information tailored to the carers needs.  The role will include working with carers face to face, over the telephone, at events and workshops, developing fact sheets and briefs for case workers and other professionals.
