Introduction to Carers’ Resource
Carers’ Resource exists to support unpaid carers. We provide information, advice and support to carers, to the people they care for and to professionals who work with them. Carers’ Resource is an independent, award-winning Yorkshire charity which is open to everyone and offers emotional and practical help to enable them to cope.
We provide support to carers and vulnerable adults in the Harrogate, Craven and Selby areas of North Yorkshire and across Bradford District, with office bases in Bradford, Harrogate and Skipton.
About our database
Our database is an essential tool within our organisation. It is used to record client contacts and case notes; to manage our mailing lists; and to enable us to report on our work quickly, efficiently and accurately.
Our previous database developer has recently retired, and while willing to provide technical support in the short term, we are looking for a developer who can support us in the long term, ideally with experience and understanding of working with the voluntary sector.
We currently use Microsoft Access 2010 to run an Access front-end, comprising approximately 80 forms and subforms, linked to approximately 80 tables held in SQL Server, with a large amount of VBA code behind the forms.
While it has been designed with the needs of our organisation in mind, there are always amendments that could be made given changes in our work, and advances in technology.
- Respond to immediate issues with database functionality
- Make amendments as required to the existing database
- Look at new developments for the database as appropriate
