Being responsible for a child with additional needs is often quite isolating. You may feel other parents don’t or can’t understand what it’s like. Getting to know other parent carers, learning from and supporting each other can have a huge impact on your wellbeing.

Join our Facebook groups to meet other parent carers and keep informed about our online get-togethers as well as important news about local services.

We hold events and regular groups especially for parent carers, including a You Are Not Alone group for parents whose children display behaviours that are challenging. You can also join in any of the groups for all kinds of carers that you might be interested in. See the calendar below for details.

Starting on Thursday, 1st February 2024, 10am - 12noon, at Skipton Library

This new monthly coffee morning will be held on the first Thursday of the month upstairs at Skipton Library (no lift available unfortunately). This is a chance for carers to meet and chat with other carers in a similar situation of caring for a loved one with dementia. Activities such as dementia jigsaws, memory books, scrapbooks and photos will be available for your loved ones, supported by a member of Carers’ Resource staff whilst you enjoy a coffee and cake.
