At the beginning of the challenge

Our Young Carers’ Service has marked its 20th anniversary by conquering the Three Peaks.

Five young carers, aged 13 to 16, tackled Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough – a distance of 25 miles, and a total climb of 7,000ft.

Accompanied by young carer workers and staff, they completed the trek within 12 hours – 11 hours and 20 mins – earning membership in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Official Club on 27 July, 2016.

An amazing day and an unbelievable amount of determination and resilience from the whole team all the way round.”

Well done, guys – a wonderful achievement!

The group is raising funds to enable more young carers to benefit from activities, trips and groups which are vital to help them have a break from their caring role and enjoy their youth.
