One of our volunteers really lives up to her name of ‘Amazing Grace’!
For the former teacher and carer of husband Keith, who voluntarily runs a regular carers get-together in Silsden, has also raised more than £600 for Carers’ Resource by holding a Time Out for Tea garden party.
With the support and help of friends and family, Grace’s event – which was also a first birthday party for the garden shed – included a plant sale, raffle and tombola, hoopla and golf.
Cakes and plenty of cups of tea were also served.
And at the Silsden carers’ coffee morning, which meets on the first Thursday of the month, 10.30am to 11.30am at Silsden Methodist Church’s Chatterbox, Grace presented her donation to our fundraising co-ordinator Anne Wells.
Grace said: “It was a really wonderful event and we’re so pleased to have managed to raise so much.
“Carers’ Resource has been a massive help to me, Keith and many carers, and it’s great to be able to give something back as well as raise awareness.”
Anne said: “It’s hard work raising that amount of money and we are extremely grateful to you and everyone who helped out and supported it. Well done!”
Our Time Out for Tea campaign encourages people to brew up and raise funds – so local carers can have time out from caring.
Invite your friends, family or colleagues round for a cuppa, a cake and a chat – and donations will go towards enabling carers to have time out.
