Regal chicks on parade to raise funds – and celebrate Queen’s birthdayLast changed: Wednesday 10 August, 2016

We are marking the Queen’s 90th birthday with special commemorative fundraising chicks.

Once again we have teamed up with Cadbury and our hard-working knitters have created woolly Easter chick covers for the confectionary company’s creme eggs.

They are now on sale across Yorkshire for a donation of £1.50 towards our ongoing support for carers.

More than 1,000 covers have been created this year – including a limited edition in the red, white and blue of the Union Flag to commemorate Her Majesty’s birthday.

“We choose a different theme each Easter to add a different and eye-catching dimension to the chicks,” says Anne Wells, our Events and Fundraising Manager.

“It has been another tremendous effort by our teams of volunteers – even if they have had to source more red, white and blue wool than usual!”

Since the first chick cover was knitted eight years ago, more than 10,000 have been sold across Yorkshire – generating more than £15,000.

The covers are available from a range of outlets – from schools to cafes to Rotary Clubs – across our Yorkshire patch, as well as at our offices.
