We are supporting Health Watch Bradford in their engagement of Carers in regard to forthcoming changes to Stroke Services within the Bradford and Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) areas. If you are supporting any carers affected by stroke (this may be applicable to themselves or their cared for) or those that may be in at risk groups for stroke, please make them aware of the opportunity to have their say regarding these changes and how they may be affected. The engagement period for this is 13th July to 11th September.
A summary of the details for the forthcoming changes to Stroke Services is briefly summarised as provided by Health Watch:
Stroke services in our district are changing:
- Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) at Airedale Hospital will close, but acute/rehabilitation services remain.
- Patients with suspected stroke will be taken to HASU at Bradford Royal Infirmary for initial tests and treatment.
- The single HASU will provide specialist 24/7 care.

We want to hear from carers and patients about their experiences of stroke services in order to ensure the new service meets their needs.
