Volunteering: Parent Carer Club Volunteer

Parent Carer Club is a group of Parent Carers of Children with additional needs, who are taking control of improving their wellbeing.  We have formed a group to encourage and support each member.   Our motto is Active Parents lead Active Lives.  We do a range of activities including craft, trips out, fundraising events and workshops.  The group is currently co-ordinated by Kathryn one of our Locality workers.

We are looking for a volunteer to support the day to day running of the group:

  • To ring the carers on a weekly basis to prompt attendance and give information
  • To help prepare for the next group and work along side the Locality Worker
  • To be willing to help set up the group
  • To go for take away coffee
  • To help prepare craft activities
  • To listen to the Parent Carers
  • To have a positive and upbeat outlook, but be compassionate
  • To help organise fundraising activities
  • To help arrange trips and activities

We need someone who understands what it means to be a parent, a carer and ideally who has an interest in complex needs of parent carers and is willing to help develop the rolling programme as the group develops.  This person should have an enthusiastic outlook, have an understanding of confidentiality and be reliable.

Parent Carer Club is a newly developed group running every week during term time on a Thursday. Ideally the volunteer would be available twice a week to attend and to help prepare for the group.

You will need to be prepared to have a DBS and be able to provide 2 references. A driver would be beneficial, but not essential

You will be supported and work alongside the Locality Worker.

 Travel expenses will be reimbursed

If you would like to discuss this opportunity please telephone Kathryn Leakey or Sally Horner -Volunteer Co-Ordinator at Carers Resource.  Tel; 01274 449660.
