Carers' Resource is the local, specialist carers' centre for the
Bradford and Airedale, Harrogate and Ripon, and Craven districts of Yorkshire.

Volunteering: Caring Caller (Telephone)

Available in the following locations: Harrogate, Home working, Shipley or Skipton
Suggested time requirement: A few hours a week

The Caring Callers service relies entirely on volunteers. As a Caring Caller you will be in regular telephone contact with a number of carers giving them someone to talk to and being a friendly voice on the other end of the line.

Being a carer can be an isolating and lonely experience. Even if you have support from family and friends it can be difficult to truly open up about the pressures that caring for someone can make you feel. It can be very helpful to have someone totally separate from your life to talk to – whether about your caring itself or just to have a break and a chat. The Caring Callers service from Carers’ Resource provides carers with that friendly listening ear that can really help get you through a tough time.

Skills needed:

  • Good listener
  • Empathy
  • Committment
