Carers’ Resource is a local charity providing services to unpaid carers of all ages for over 25 years. We recognise the unique challenges these carers face and we are dedicated to providing them with the support, recognition, and opportunities they deserve. Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of carers? Do you possess the skills and enthusiasm to engage with and support adult carers? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dedicated team as a Locality Carer Worker in the Selby district!
Key responsibilities:
- Listen, advise, and provide support to adult carers, both via phone and in person
- Offer information and signposting to connect carers with appropriate services
- Engage in outreach initiatives to extend our services’ reach
- Collaborate with local organisations to ensure wider awareness of carers
- Encourage carers to advocate for themselves
- Conduct wellbeing reviews to support carers in prioritising self-care
- Emphasize strength-based and preventive approaches including peer support groups
- Work from our Selby office, and occasionally from home, as well as meeting carers in local community settings and their homes
Requirements:
- A genuine passion for working with carers and an understanding of the challenges they face
- Previous experience providing individual and group support to adults
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with carers on a personal level
- Flexibility to adapt to the varying needs and demands of the role
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and rights of carers
- Competent user of IT including email, Microsoft Office
- Valid driving licence and access to a car in working hours
