The Carers' Resource is the local, specialist carers' centre for the
Bradford and Airedale, Harrogate and Ripon and Craven districts of Yorkshire.

Carers' Resource - You care for them, we care for you

Education, Employment and Learning

We offer information, advice and guidance on work, learning and leisure opportunities for unpaid carers and other adults seeking work and learning-related advice. We can also offer volunteering opportunities to allow you to gain valuable experince in a variety of roles.

Our skilled advisers can help:

  • Gain new skills and/or qualifications
  • Regain confidence and sense of self
  • Remain in, or get back to, paid work

We also run a variety of courses that are fun and motivating, running at times and places that suit our clients; from computer skills, confidence building and interview techniques and topics suggested by our clients.  We have helped hundreds of people across North Yorkshire gain new skills, regain their sense of self and even stay in, or get back to, work.

Working with employers

The Advisers work to raise awareness with employers about carers issues, both with a view to retaining employees who are combining caring and working roles and to attract a potential pool of employees who are carers. There are several pieces of employment law/legislation relating to carers and their rights. We help employers to establish appropriate policies and procedures to take these into account.

We also work with local training providers to encourage courses which accommodate carers’ needs and help to remove identified barriers.

Carers’ Resource has fully qualified Careers Advisors and Skills Coaches available to help you move forward into learning and work.

You do not have to be a carer to benefit from the support of our friendly, knowledgeable team.  The National Careers Service provides information and advice about learning and work to adults aged 18+.
