Volunteer
Roles
Whatever your reason for volunteering, the
Carers’ Resource can offer you many opportunities,
training, support and fun. We have a growing team of
dedicated volunteers, reaching carers that we otherwise
wouldn’t be able to support on a regular basis.

BefRIenders
One to one support with carers, giving them a chance
to talk about their concerns, their interests or their
needs to a neutral and non-judgemental ear! You might
be in someone’s home or encouraging them to get
out and about to meet new people or start a new activity.

Drivers
We need volunteers all over our geographical
area to help carers get to appointments,
support groups and activities. In our more rural areas,
where public transport might not be accessible, our
volunteer drivers provide a vital lifeline to carers
and those they care for.

Call
a Carer
Staying in touch with the thousands of carers we support
each year is a demanding task. Our ‘Call A Carer’
volunteers make follow up phone calls to those who haven’t
been in touch for a while and offer a listening ear.
The reassurance that the Carers’ Resource is always
there for them is often enough to help them carry on
caring.

Carer
support groups, trips and activities
The Carers’ Resource run a variety of support
groups for carers and you can help by offering a listening
ear and extra support for our staff. From boat trips
to Tai Chi and from lunches to afternoon tea, your skills
can be used in many different ways to give carers a
much needed break.

Young
Carers Team
Our young carers team involve volunteers to help them
support young people under the age of 18 who have caring
responsibilities for a parent or sibling. You could
bring new skills and energy to the youth club to encourage
and motivate young carers in a supportive environment,
or support our young carer trips, raising enthusiasm
and keeping the children safe in a range of activities.

Learning
Support volunteers
Working with our Changing
Lives team, you can help carers
develop their skills and interests by encouraging them
to attend a range of courses and offering support and
reassurance over the phone.

Fundraising
volunteers
Help organise and plan events to increase awareness
of our work and to raise funds. You can also help out
on the day, hold your own event for us, or even start
a fundraising group amongst your friends.
